The picture above shows all the devastation and destruction caused by the hurricane. The houses would be completely lifted off their foundations and swept away, while some would be completely crushed by flying debris. The picture also demonstrates the huge amount of debris there was by the end of the storm. You cant even see the ground! It also shows that possessions from people would be transported so far from their original place with all the wind and water, flooding, that there was. The debris was dangerous with all the fatalities caused by them, however some lucky ones were able to survive because of debris. All the debris that there was including a cistern that can be seen in the picture above; it was easier for people to find wood that they could cling to or make a raft or shelter out of it.
